This project is intended as a supplement to Nevada Vascular Plants: an Annotated Checklist of the State's Botanical Diversity, by Arnold (Jerry) Tiehm & Jan Nachlinger.

Physiographic Region
Named Place
Real official boundaries (USFWS/USFS) for specific named localities the book discusses.
Book Category (taxon-level, from the book)
Habitat/distribution descriptors (Cliff-dwelling, Disjunct, Foothills, etc.) — these describe a pattern, not a checkable location, so they stay taxon-level. For an actual place like Ash Meadows, use the Named Place filter above instead — it checks real coordinates, this doesn't.
Genus
iNat Quality Grade
iNat GPS Accuracy
Obscured points are randomized by iNat (often 10–20+ km) to protect sensitive species. The accuracy filter above now correctly reflects this — obscured points report their true (large) public uncertainty, not the device's original precision — but checking this box adds an explicit, unambiguous exclusion. Affects iNat points only; herbarium records are unaffected by either control.

Endemism (fill style)
Endemic — solid fill
Near-endemic — open ring
Disjunct — dashed ring
Colors cycle by species when no single taxon is selected.
Offline Base Map
Caches a statewide low-detail USGS Topo basemap (~140–235MB, one-time) so the map background still shows with no signal. Nothing downloads unless you click below — do this once, on Wi-Fi.
Area Herbarium/iNat Search
Draw a polygon or box to search for any plant records there — not just endemics. Optionally filter by genus or full species name below (e.g. "Artemisia" or "Astragalus phoenix"); leave blank for all plants. Requires internet. Large areas or large result sets will prompt a warning.
